Warns swimmers of improper activities or danger, enforces pool regulations and water safety policies, administering First Aid/CPR if necessary.
Responsibilities Perform all required opening and closing duties as listed in the lifeguard checklist folder.
Test both pools for chlorine and ph levels according to the chemical testing log.
Inspects the aquatic facility for unsafe conditions and cleanliness to prevent accidents, and reports any hazards to the supervisor.
Scans the area and warns swimmers of improper activities or danger, and enforces pool regulations and water safety policies.
Administers first aid in the event of injury, rescues swimmers in distress or danger of drowning, and administers CPR and/or artificial respiration if needed, until medical personnel arrive.
Fills out reports for incidents or other records, as needed.
Make sure all lifeguard equipment is where it should be - rescue tubes, backboards, etc.
Work closely with other departments to optimize guest satisfaction, help cabana staff when necessary, and if applicable.
Responsible for keeping the locker rooms and pool area clean.
Make sure that lounge chairs are put away, tables are put back, umbrellas are taken in for the night, and the trash is emptied.
Follow company policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
Understand and work in accordance with health and safety mandates.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements Must be CPR and First Aid certified.
Must be lifeguard certified.
Must be able to work in the outdoor weather environment, while maintaining your focus in hot, humid, sunny and possibly loud conditions.
Ability to remain calm in the face of a crisis.
Ability to enforce swimming pool rules in a considerate but firm manner.
Good eyesight.
Ability to react quickly and efficiently in a life-threatening situation.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as a team member, using good communication, and being respectful.
