Medical Receptionist GENERAL Overview:
A non-exempt medical office position responsible for maintaining the front office and representing the practice with professionalism.
This position requires multi-tasking effortlessly, prioritizing efficiently, handling patient requests, placing outbound calls to patients, and handling all administrative tasks with a positive attitude.
Primary responsibilities include patient check-in, check-out, receiving payments, patient scheduling, and answering telephones.
Responsibilities:
Adheres to the HIPAA Compliance Plan and the Privacy Standards Confidentiality Agreement.
Greets patients immediately upon their arrival and provides excellent customer service.
Check patients in verifying demographics and insurance.
Utilizes electronic health record for tasks assigned according to standard protocols.
Evaluates daily schedules to accommodate patient flow and minimize missed appointments, according to standard protocol Handles patient calls and effectively manages provider schedules Completes referrals and authorizations as needed.
Checks patients out and makes appointments as indicated.
Collects co-pays and patient payments.
Performs other tasks as assigned Works effectively in a team based care environment Minimum High School / GED CPR certification 1 year Medical practice experience Preferred Medent EMR Experience Preferred Work Environment:
Moderate physical activity.
Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.
